Hard at Work with Psi Alpha Alpha

On August 2, 2022, the Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. — affectionately known as the Fairfax County Ques — was formally recognized by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors with an official resolution of appreciation. This proclamation highlighted decades of service and the Chapter’s consistent impact on the communities of Fairfax County since its inception in 1980.

The resolution acknowledged the many ways Psi Alpha Alpha has touched lives across the county. From providing education and performing arts opportunities to high schoolers to mentoring programs and partnerships with organizations like New Hope Housing, Rebuilding Together, Fairfax County Public Schools, the Fairfax County Department of Family Services, and the Gum Springs Community Center, the Chapter has worked tirelessly to uplift and empower its neighbors.

Much of this work has been concentrated along the Route 1 corridor in the Mount Vernon and Franconia communities. Projects include adopting a stretch of Route 1, distributing gift cards at Thanksgiving and Christmas, supporting the Gum Springs community through “Santa’s Visit,” and countless other acts of service. Psi Alpha Alpha has also made significant contributions to education through initiatives like fostering literacy among third graders at Riverside Elementary, facilitating the MANUP program at Mount Vernon High School, and supporting Fairfax County’s Father Engagement Unit with year-round classes.

As Basileus of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter at the time, receiving this recognition on behalf of the Chapter was one of the major highlights of my leadership and service within the Third District. It reflected not only the collective effort of our Chapter Brothers but also the impact that Omega continues to have when we commit ourselves fully to community engagement and uplift.

The proclamation stands as a proud reminder of what Brotherhood, consistency, and dedication to service can accomplish. Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter has truly been hard at work, and Fairfax County’s recognition is a testament to the impact that comes when men of Omega live out the principle that Friendship is essential to the soul.
